A burst leaves forty near-identical photos and a person who will never sort them. Eye picks the sharp, well-composed one and marks the rest as duplicates.
The quality answer breaks into five scores: interestingness, composition, subject clarity, thumbnail quality and aesthetic. Sort on the score to find the best photo in a burst or the best thumbnail in a clip. Eye also fingerprints each image, so near-identical shots group without comparing pixels.
Keep one, not forty
Score a burst and surface the keeper, so a user sees one good photo instead of scrolling forty near identical ones. Runs on the device, so a camera roll never gets uploaded to be sorted.
Camera roll cleanup
Spot near-duplicates across a library and offer to keep the best one, on the phone, so a cleanup feature never uploads a customer's photos.
Pick the cover frame for a video
Score candidate frames for composition, subject clarity, and thumbnail quality, and let a video app propose a cover image the creator does not have to hunt for.
